"I live in Greensboro, NC. For a
number of years we have known about an abandoned
cemetery down the road from my house. The cemetery
seems to be the family plot of a Colonel James
Nicholson Millis and his wife Elizabeth Armfield
Millis. Recently, we decided to write down all the
names in the graveyard,(at least the ones with
headstones), and see if anyone was looking into their
family roots. Your website was the only one that
mentioned relatives from North Carolina on the MILLIS
line. I also updated the gravesites on findagrave.com.
I hope you find this information useful, and feel free
to e-mail me if you want further questions. I would
love to know if they are your family or if I should
keep looking.
Sincerly,
Venus Musgrove"

"I did a little bit of research into Marriages and
Births in Guilford County. James Millis did marry a
Mary Jackson. However the James Millis in my cemetery
appears to be their son [?]. Born Oct. 22 1815. A couple
of years after their marriage. He obviously married
into the Armfield family, although I could not find a
marriage date for James Millis and Elizabeth Armfield.
The only other information I have from the graves is
that two of the persons buried there were Masons. Most
of the poems written below the names are unreadable
due to age and neglect. A couple of the graves said
'Gone but not forgotten', but that was all. A third
family, Ozment, was also buried in the cemetery,
probably linked by marriage of an Armfield or Millis
daughter. Apparently in the 60's some of the members
of the family moved six of the graves and tombstones
to another cemetary. There moved to Good Hope Church
Presbyterian Cemetery. Here is a link to a picture of
the Millis-Armfield Cemetery.

I am very much in my geneology and family history, and
I am always happy to help someone else with theirs.
