Amilcare Ponchielli (31 August 1834, Paderno - 16 January 1886, Milan). Italian composer of 'La Gioconda' (1876, libretto after V. Hugo's Angelo, Tyrant of Padua) and other operas; also cantatas (one in memory of Giuseppe Garibaldi - Himno de Garibaldi, 1882). Postmark: CREMONA, 8.3.1986, Day of Issue, 100th anniversary of Ponchielli's death. Card published by Sogema Marzari S.p.A - Schio, No. 29. Triple concordance.
