Above left: Leonardo da Vinci (15 April 1452, Vinci, Italy - 2 May 1519, Amboise, France). Italian painter, sculptor, architect and musician (Sforza court in Milan), engineer, and scientist. Postmark: BUCURESTI, 20 June 1952, Leonardo's 500th birthday. Card: No publisher details or numbering. Triple concordance.

Above right: Benjamin Franklin (17 January 1706, Boston, MA - 17 April 1790, Philadelphia). He invented the Franklin stove, bifocal eyeglasses and the lightning rod. Many of Franklin's inventions were based on improving quality of life for others. Franklin was musically inclined, and is reported to have played the violin, harp, cello, guitar, and his own invention, the glass harmonica. Benjamin Franklin was buried in the cemetery of Christ Church, Philadelphia. Postmark: PHILADELPHIA, First Day Cancellation, 20 OCT 1972. Card published by Walter H.
