The Early Castles
GRANDSON (Switzerland) - the first stronghold was built at the beginning of the 11C by the lords of Grandson, but the castle, as we know it today, dates from the 13C. KYBURG (Switzerland) - this feudal castle was built in the 10 and 11C and passed successively from the line of the Counts of Kyburg to the Habsburgs. Rectangular keep and circular wall. Postmark: KYBURG, 28.5.1976. Card published by Baumann, Switzerland, No. 489. Postage stamp issued in 28 May 1976.
