Joshuaink.com: "It seems inevitable that as a former chef and still a real food enthusiast, I am going to see the similarities between building a website and the steps you take to get a decent plate of grub on the table. If I ever come to understand web design the way I do cookery, I'll be a very happy man."
Erik Sagen: "The key to understanding life is knowing whether you are in control of your life or if your life is in control of you."

Quotations about Computers
"The real danger is not that computers will begin to think like men, but that men will begin to think like computers." -- Sydney J. Harris
"Version 1 of any software is full of bugs. Version 2 fixes all the bugs and is great. Version 3 adds all the things users ask for, but hides all the great stuff in Version 2." -- Fred Blechman
"Computers have lots of memory but no imagination." -- Author Unknown
"Few companies that installed computers to reduce the employment of clerks have realized their expectations.... They now need more, and more expensive clerks even though they call them operators or programmers." -- Peter F. Drucker
"If debugging is the process of removing bugs, then programming must be the process of putting them in." -- Author Unknown

Scribbling.net: "When authoring a web site, keep in mind that the Googlebot is software, which means it has a set of capabilities and limitations and algorithms it uses to index content. There are lots of effective ways to trip up the Googlebot and make it impossible for it to index your content. Alternately, the Googlebot can index your site well, and then people will find it when searching for words it contains. As a web site author, there are a few simple things you can do to help the Googlebot understand your web site as fully as possible. Here's a list."

How to Start a Startup: "You need three things to create a successful startup: to start with good people, to make something customers actually want, and to spend as little money as possible. Most startups that fail do it because they fail at one of these. A startup that does all three will probably succeed." (via)

Intranet Journal: "An intranet is a community - made up of technology and personnel - that represents and supports an organization's collective knowledge and culture. And as such, the benefits of an intranet are not always apparent."

Podcasting vs. Blogging: "One of the reasons blogging has become so popular is that today's search engines favor regularly-updated, opinionated sites that link to source materials. The written nature of blogging leads to increased awareness through search engines. The technology behind blogging allows for deep-linking, easy cut-and-paste quoting of materials. Such search engines do not yet exist for podcasting, though there are some startup companies attempting to index podcasts for this reason. Blogging follows a standard draft/publish process that allows for unlimited editing prior to publication. The same process for podcasting is much more complex, and once again requires that the podcaster have a base set of audio production skills and the software to accomplish it. [...] It's a neat idea, but I have no expectations that it will become a widespread or accepted medium for self-publishers."
Adrian Holovaty: "A newspaperman deals in information dictation; a Web journalist deals in information discovery."
